Günter Beltzig
Günter Beltzig, born on December 26, 1941, in Wuppertal, and passed away on December 26, 2022, gained prominence in the 1960s through his groundbreaking design of plastic furniture. After studying industrial design at the Werkkunstschule Wuppertal, he worked in the design department of Siemens AG Munich. Günter Beltzig founded the company Brüder Beltzig Design, which he led until 1976, before becoming a freelance designer in 1970. His focus was on the needs of children. He published numerous publications, exhibited his works, and collaborated with Löffler since 2009.
In 1968, Beltzig created the visionary Floris chair, which made him famous overnight. Today, Floris can be found in the New York Museum of Modern Art and in the Löffler Collection. Thanks to our collaboration with Günter Beltzig, two of his most significant plastic furniture pieces, the Pegasus seat sculpture and his Juniör children's chair, are available again. His belief "Children are our future" is reflected in his work. He developed playground designs worldwide, from Denmark to Puerto Rico. Because for him, "No one is too small for good design".
In collaboration with Löffler, Günter Beltzig redesigned the Juniör children's chair. This chair accompanies children playfully in their everyday lives: tip-proof, stable, impact-resistant, washable, weatherproof, free of pollutants, and stackable.
